RSL Master Available now

The mastering chain that learns your mix first

Three steps from mix to master. RSL Master measures your song, then moves its loudness, dynamics, tonal balance, stereo width and clarity toward a chart-ready target, all at once, in proportion, and only as far as you turn it.

$69, regular price $99. Available now.

Installed and activated through RSL Hub on up to 4 computers, with no license key to enter.

AU, VST3, AAX, Standalone on macOS 11 or later; VST3, Standalone on Windows 10 or later (64-bit)

RSL Master is a finishing chain, not a color box. For harmonic density, put the Dual Core Saturator in front of it and Learn after it is set.

RSL Master plugin interface
The faceplate reads left to right as the three steps: Input, Learn, Process.

Listen to it in action

Three renders, one transport. Press play and switch between them while the track runs: the playhead is kept, so you hear the same bar three ways. A louder file wins every blind A/B, which is why the middle button is the finished master turned back down to the level of the mix. That is the one that tells you what the chain actually did. The third is the same master at the loudness it was rendered to.

Three steps, in the order the faceplate reads

  1. Step 1

    Input

Every nonlinear stage is calibrated to peaks between -12 and -6 dBFS. Play the loudest section and turn INPUT TRIM until the meter reads SWEET, or press AUTO SET and it lands there for you.

  2. Step 2

    Learn

Press LEARN YOUR MIX on that same section and let it run for thirty seconds. The measurement is then frozen, so the correction holds for the whole song instead of chasing the arrangement.

  3. Step 3

    Process

One macro, 0 to 100, that engages the chain in order of what each correction costs the material. Free corrections first, then shape, then peaks, then loudness.

The ring marks what each zone costs you

ProcessStages engagedWhat you give up
0 - 25 Balance, Low end, Width Tonal and spatial match. Nothing dynamic: peaks and envelope are untouched.
25 - 50 Dynamics fading in The material takes on the target's transient distribution instead of its own.
50 - 75 Envelope, Smooth and Clip fading in Macro dynamics narrow and peaks begin to round.
75 - 100 Loudness driving to the target Loudness match, paid for in limiter gain reduction.

One hundred is not the goal. Process 100 means the whole chain is engaged and driving to the target loudness; the right position is wherever the song sounds finished, and many songs stop at 25 or 50. The marks at 25, 50 and 75 are on the ring because those boundaries are the product being honest about cost.

Every correction, shown and auditionable

  • Advanced view. A drawer under the faceplate showing the chain as a signal path, with a meter per stage and its depth knob directly beneath. Nine knobs voice the chain without moving Process.
  • Matched bypass. Your dry mix at the processed signal's loudness, so the A/B does not lie. A finishing chain whose bypass is louder on one side is selling you volume.
  • Hear changes. Delta monitoring: the output minus a latency-aligned copy of the input. What RSL Master added or removed, and nothing else.
  • Not an AI product. Every stage is deterministic signal processing driven by measured numbers, and the drawer shows what each one is doing right now.
