About Renegade Sound Labs

For the part of the mix meters can’t solve.

A mix can be balanced, controlled, loud and technically perfect and still be missing the thing that matters most.

Identity.

Renegade Sound Labs builds audio tools for producers and engineers who want more than clean processing. More movement. More weight. More dimension. More consequence when a sound hits the circuit.

Because sometimes the difference between a mix and a record is not another correction.

It’s character.

Built by a record maker. Engineered for record makers.

Renegade Sound Labs was founded by producer and audio engineer Mevin Riviere, known professionally as Mev the Renegade.

Across more than 15 years of making records, his production work has earned 2x RIAA Gold recognition and includes credits with artists such as DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Tyga, Fabolous and Jadakiss.

That experience shaped the premise behind RSL.

We did not start with a list of plugins the market already had.

We started with a question:

What actually makes a signal feel finished?

Not technically finished.

Musically finished.

The weight of a transformer. The response of a tube being pushed. Magnetic hysteresis. Tape compression. Component instability. Circuit interaction. The subtle changes that happen when a physical system remembers, reacts and refuses to behave perfectly.

That became our laboratory.

We don’t recreate machines.

We recreate behavior, then push it further.

There are already exceptional recreations of legendary studio hardware.

We are interested in something different.

Instead of stopping at the faceplate, we look underneath it.

At saturation curves. Magnetic behavior. Voltage interaction. Material response. Hysteresis. Nonlinearity. Memory. Instability.

Then we ask what happens when those principles enter a digital environment without being limited by the physical machine that inspired them.

That philosophy lets us explore familiar territory like tubes, transformers, tape and clipping while moving into less conventional ideas inspired by ferrofluids, ionic systems, phase-transition materials and other forms of signal-dependent behavior.

Not every idea needs to have existed in a rack.

It needs to earn its place in a record.

The machine should react to the music.

Great analog equipment was never completely static.

Push it harder and it changed.

Hit it differently and it responded differently.

What happened a moment ago could influence what happened next.

Those interactions created depth, movement and personality that simple distortion curves cannot completely explain.

We want our processors to feel equally alive.

That means building systems that respond to the program material rather than simply applying an effect on top of it.

Tools you can drive.

Tools you can play.

Tools that reward experimentation.

Character without chaos.

Experimental does not mean impractical.

Every Renegade Sound Labs processor has to work in an actual session.

Fast controls. Clear metering. Useful gain staging. Repeatable results. Enough precision for mastering and enough aggression to completely reshape a sound when the record demands it.

Dual Core Saturator embodies that philosophy by combining independent saturation cores, frequency-dependent processing and multiple character systems within one controlled signal path.

RSL ONE takes part of that same philosophy and strips it down to the essentials.

Different tools.

Same standard.

Built in-house. Tested in real sessions.

We do not build features to make specification sheets longer.

We build them because somebody making music should have a reason to reach for them.

Every processor begins with a sonic problem or possibility.

Every control must justify itself.

Every experiment eventually faces the same test:

Does this make us want to keep listening?

If the answer is no, it isn’t finished.

This is Renegade Sound Labs.

We believe digital audio has spent decades becoming cleaner, safer and more precise.

That’s extraordinary.

Now we want to make it dangerous again.

Not uncontrolled.

Not gimmicky.

Alive.

Renegade Sound Labs is building instruments for the spaces between engineering and experimentation, between precision and imperfection, between the sound you recorded and the sound you imagined.

Some will be familiar.

Some will be strange.

All of them have one job.

Give the record a reason to be remembered.
