Three steps, then go and set your compressor

1. Capture

   Press CAPTURE and roll the transport. Foresight records up to sixty seconds of whatever is passing through it, at the host sample rate.

2. Simulate

   Move any of the nine controls and the whole capture is re-simulated. The silver shoulders standing above the amber are the gain reduction, drawn on the waveform itself.

3. Decide

   Pin a point to watch one transient respond as you dial. Then take the threshold, ratio and timings to the compressor you actually intend to use.

Suggest solves the threshold against your own capture

Pick a source and a goal and Foresight fills in all nine controls. The threshold is not a rule of thumb: it runs the compressor over your capture repeatedly, adjusting until the measured peak gain reduction matches the goal. Makeup is measured the same way, so switching a suggestion in and out is a fair comparison rather than a loudness contest.
