Getting it installed and running

Every RSL plugin installs and activates through RSL Hub, our free app for macOS and Windows. Here is how to set it up, how trials and All Access work, and the problems people actually hit. If none of this solves it, contact us directly.

Installing

  1. 1

    Get RSL Hub

Free, for macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, and Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. Download it from the RSL Hub page and install it like any other app. It keeps itself up to date.

  2. 2

Press Sign in. RSL Hub opens renegadesoundlabs.com in your browser, you sign in there and choose Allow. The app never sees your password. No account yet? Create one free. Free plugins install without signing in.

  3. 3

    Install, or try it first

Pick a plugin and choose Install. Not bought it yet? Choose Try free for 14 days of the full plugin, no card. Quit your DAW before installing, so nothing it has open gets in the way. Activation is automatic, on up to 4 computers, and RSL Hub renews it in the background.

  4. 4

    Restart your DAW

Hosts scan for plugins at launch. Logic Pro validates new Audio Units on the first launch after installing, which takes a moment.

Installing without RSL Hub

Every installer you own is also under Downloads on your account page. On macOS you pick which parts you want, and it places the Audio Unit in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, the VST3 in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3, the AAX in /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins, and the Standalone app and its uninstaller in Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning. On Windows the VST3 goes to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, or your personal Steinberg folder if you choose “just for me”, with the Standalone app optional. The Windows installers are not yet code signed, so SmartScreen shows a warning the first time: choose More info, then Run anyway. Paid plugins still activate by signing in to RSL Hub.

Trials, All Access and your computers

Free trial
Every paid plugin can be tried free for 14 days, once per account, with no card: Try free on its page or in RSL Hub. The days left show in red in the plugin's header. When the trial ends the plugin locks. Buy it or subscribe, then press Check again in the plugin; there is nothing to reinstall
All Access
Every RSL plugin, new ones included, from $15 a month billed yearly or $18 monthly, starting with 14 days free. Switch plans or cancel under Manage membership on your account page. Canceling keeps everything working to the end of the period you paid for
Failed payment
We retry for up to 7 days and your plugins keep working meanwhile. Update your card under Manage membership
Plugins you buy
Yours to keep, with their updates, whatever happens to a membership. Buying, refunding or canceling one never affects the other
Computers
Up to 4 at a time per account. Remove one in RSL Hub under Settings, or on your account page under Activated computers
Working offline
Each activation lasts 14 days, and RSL Hub renews it whenever the computer is online

Compatibility

Operating system
macOS 11 or newer, or Windows 10 64-bit or newer, including Windows 11
Processors
macOS: Universal 2, native on Intel and Apple Silicon. Windows: 64-bit Intel or AMD
Formats
macOS: Audio Unit, VST3 and Standalone for every plugin, plus AAX for Pro Tools in every paid plugin. RSL Crucible has no Standalone on macOS. Windows: VST3 and Standalone for every plugin. Each plugin's page lists its exact formats
Hosts
Any 64-bit host that loads AU or VST3, including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper, Studio One, Bitwig and Cubase. Pro Tools loads AAX, which every paid RSL plugin includes on macOS
Not supported yet
AAX on Windows, and no AAX for RSL Foresight, so Pro Tools will not load it. No VST2, no Audio Unit on Windows, and no native Windows-on-ARM build
Activation
Every paid plugin activates through RSL Hub with your Renegade Sound Labs account, on up to 4 computers, with no key. RSL One needs a free account, and RSL Foresight needs nothing at all

Common problems

The plugin does not appear in my DAW

Most hosts only scan for new plugins at launch. Quit the DAW completely and reopen it. Logic Pro runs its own validation pass on first launch after an install, which can take a minute. In Ableton Live, Reaper and Studio One you can also trigger a manual rescan from the plugin preferences.

An install failed, or a plugin stopped loading after an update

Quit your DAW first: an installer cannot replace a plugin your DAW has open. Then open the plugin in RSL Hub and choose Reinstall, which runs a fresh copy of the current installer over the old one. Your presets and sessions are kept.

Signing in to RSL Hub does not finish

RSL Hub signs you in through your browser: it opens renegadesoundlabs.com, you sign in there and choose Allow, and the browser hands you back to the app. If no browser window appeared, press Cancel sign-in, then Sign in again. Make sure you are signing in with the email address you ordered with.

A plugin is silent and asks to be activated

It is not activated on this computer. Open RSL Hub and sign in, then press Check again in the plugin. If it still asks: check you are under the limit of 4 computers, that the computer's date and time are correct, and that you still have the plugin. A free trial that has ended, or an All Access membership that has lapsed, locks the plugins you do not own until you buy or subscribe.

I replaced or reset a computer and now I am over the limit

Remove the old one in RSL Hub under Settings, or on your account page under Activated computers, then activate the new one. You can use up to 4 computers at a time. If RSL Hub says too many computers have been added this month, contact us and we will clear it.

macOS says the installer cannot be opened

That is Gatekeeper reacting to a download rather than a fault with the file. Open System Settings, go to Privacy and Security, scroll to the Security section and choose Open Anyway, then run the installer again.

Windows says the publisher is not recognized

Expected, and not a fault with the file. The Windows installers are not code signed yet, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns the first time you run one. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Code signing is on the list.

I cannot find it in Pro Tools

Pro Tools only loads AAX plugins. On macOS every paid RSL plugin includes AAX, and so does the free RSL One: update it in RSL Hub (or run its installer again with AAX (Pro Tools) selected), then restart Pro Tools. RSL Foresight has no AAX build, so Pro Tools will not see it. There is no AAX on Windows yet.

I need to install it again

Open RSL Hub and choose Install, or Reinstall if it is already there. Every installer is also kept under Downloads on your account page. You never need to buy again or contact us to get a plugin back.

It loads but I hear no change

Check the plugin is not bypassed and that its mix or wet level is above zero. Several RSL plugins match the output level on purpose (gain match, matched bypass), so the difference you hear is character rather than volume. Where a plugin has a residual or delta monitor, switch it on to hear exactly what is being added.

RSL Dual Core Saturator license keys

Keys bought before 4 October 2026 keep working, on up to 3 devices, managed in the license portal. From version 1.9.2 you can sign in to RSL Hub instead, which covers 4 computers and needs no key. If a key is not accepted, check it was pasted in full with no trailing space and that you are under 3 devices. Replaced or reformatted a machine? Contact us and we will free up the slot.

Still stuck?

Tell us your DAW, your macOS or Windows version, the plugin and its format, and we can usually reproduce it the same day.
